C5+O.N.E. Educator workshop in Almaty

To conduct the in-person training in Almaty for 176 participants from Kazakhstan and 4 Central Asia countries KazTEA managerial team was responsible for logistics and facilities.
KazTEA managerial team is thankful to the Kazakhstan National Pedagogical Women University for renovating its dormitory and equipping 9 classrooms to provide comfortable living and engaging training for the participants. The training for 176 participants was arranged in 9 homeroom groups conducted by 20 international trainers from the USA, Chilie, Guatemala, Poland, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The schedule included EFL training sessions within communicative approach, micro-teaching, intercultural and speaking clubs.
A group of 18 volunteers – EFL teachers from Almaty, was arranged by the Program Administrative Manager (Larissa Petrova, who is the educational manager at the Almaty Council Innovation Center in Education (ACICE). The volunteers’ responsibilities involved meeting the participants from 4 CA countries in the airport

Special thanks go to the volunteers in terms of accommodating participants’ health issues and assisting with public transport as well as digital services in Kazakhstan. Participants from 4 CA countries were provided with prompt help thanks to group chats on WhatsApp and Telegram. On weekends, volunteers organized excursions to the mountains, museums and around the city. 12 volunteers were awarded with the certificates with the WL, KazTEA logos and ACICE.
5 Program assistants from each country provided support during the participants international trips. They were in regular contact with them via social media and informed about last-minute drops from the program of a few participants due to health issues of their family members. The information about international and domestic trips was monitored as well, like trip from Bishkek to Almaty, delays with flights in Tashkent and across Kazakhstan, emergency situation in Istanbul airport. PAs were monitoring the participants every-day life, health issues, and training session attendance throughout the in-person training in Almaty. PAs summarized their participants’ feedbacks and outcomes and submitted a report and posts at social media

During the in-person training a charity event was arranged by the Turkmenistan team and 117 350 KZT was raised for children from economically disadvantaged families. Danara Saranova, being the president of ASAA (Association of Shymkent Access Alumni) with the Access alumna – Madina Burketbayeva, arranged a training “The Road to the Future – Volunteering: Education, Leadership, Success” at School-Gymnasium #15, Turkistan. Some stationary was purchased for 230 training participants.

The 3d phase has started with facilitating at a new application “Slack” to monitor the participants’ progress within 25 TAGs (Teacher Activity Group), within which 174 participants are expected to improve their lesson planning skills within communicative and student-centered approach. Another commitment of them is to prepare and run 2 professional development events for their colleagues at different levels.
