Professor Russell McMahon has been teaching Information Technology (IT)
related subject matter since 1980 and has been a faculty member in the School of Information Technology
at the University of Cincinnati (UC) since 1999. He currently serves as the assistant director for the undergraduate BSIT/BSCyber programs. Prior coming to UC he has taught at several area high schools and spent more than 8 years in the IT world. He is very active in the IT-related user group community having served on the boards of multiple groups. He currently serves as a commissioner with the Computing Accrediting Commission (CAC) of ABET which is the accrediting organization for engineering and computing programs and as the secretary/treasurer for the ACM Special Interest Group in IT Education. In the past 5 years, he has given workshops on applied improvisation techniques to enhance one’s creative problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. In February-2019, he served as a Fulbright Specialist in Kazakhstan where he worked with the computing faculty at Miras University in Shymkent. He is currently a Fulbright Scholar at the Tashkent University of Information Technology in Uzbekistan where he is helping them with future ABET accreditation, curriculum development, technical English improvement, and the IHCI-2022 conference planning.
