Dr. Helena Curtain

Helena Curtain

Dr. Helena Curtain has varied experience as a foreign/second language educator and has taught at elementary school through university levels. She served as Foreign Language Curriculum Specialist for the Milwaukee Public Schools for many years and in that capacity coordinated and supervised K-12 foreign language and ESL programs She served as associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and directed the Foreign Language and ESOL teacher preparation programs.  She is the author of various articles dealing with language instruction and the co-author (with Carol Ann Dahlberg) of Languages and Children:  Making the Match (5th Ed.) a well-known resource for language educators.

Helena Curtain is active professionally and has received both state, regional, and national awards for her service to the language teaching profession.  She is an internationally known expert on second language teaching methodology and curriculum development, bilingual education, immersion programs and two-way immersion programs, especially at the elementary school level.

She has broad experience working with schools and school districts, teaching and conducting workshops throughout the United States and internationally in thirty-one countries.

Laura Woodward - Freelance Teacher Training Consultant

Laura Woodward has been a teacher and teacher trainer for more years than she cares to remember!  She has taught students and trained teachers in London, Thailand, Laos, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam and Tunisia.

She worked at the British Council, Istanbul for seven years as the teacher training manager where she coordinated and delivered courses for schools and universities both in the private and state sector.  After two years in the United Arab Emirates she returned to Turkey and worked as the teacher training manager at British Side English Language School in Istanbul.

Nowadays she is working as a freelance teacher training consultant.

Her interests are: teacher education, the practical applications of Multiple Intelligences and NLP in ELT, lifelong learning, young learners, very young learners, differentiated learning, the use of drama techniques in ELT, assessment, the role of music and song in learning, CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults). These days she is still trying to make sense of Web tools, and ways of removing the damage to her waistline caused by excessive ‘chocolate’ moments!

Sulushash Kerimkulova,

Sulushash Kerimkulova is an Associate Professor at Nazarbayev University, Graduate School of Education. She received her diploma of a Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences from the USSR Academy of Pedagogical Sciences, Moscow in 1987. She also holds a diploma of a Docent (Kazakhstan), PG Cert certificate (Scotland) and PhD and Associate Professor certificate (Global Evaluation Services, New York, USA). She is a winner of 11 grants (including Fulbright grant) and has 33 years of teaching experience and 20 years of administrative and managerial experience in higher educational institutions, including Nazarbayev University. Author of about 50 scholarly and methodical papers on the problems of higher education and ELT methodology.
