“Advancing English for Media Literacy in Kazakhstan” project: Cohort 4
In summer time 2022 despite school vacation 70 EFL teachers started the “Advancing English for Media Literacy” project in 4 cities of Kazakhstan, namely in Kostanay, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk and Koksheetau assisted by KazTEA facilitators: .Marina Kusritskaya, Yekaterian Rakhmanbergenova, Olessya Vodopyanova and Zhanat Aubakirova
Association of English Language Teacher in Kazakhstan “KazTEA” and 21st Century English Education, China Daily, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for Collaboration for the progress of teachers of English as the Foreign Language and quality of English language teaching. Both parties agreed to cooperate in the areas, such as:
1. The annual academic conferences of the Parties;
2. The Belt and Road Languages Network;
3. Academic exchange opportunities for English teachers
To promote cooperation and professional exchange Parties agreed to support local teachers’ participation at the events of both Parties, particularly on registration pricing with 20% discount for each other’s members and to cover the registration fees for up to THREE delegates recommended by both associations. In 2022, the Akmola Region English Teachers Association (ARELTA) gained a grant to implement the Scaffolding Pedagogical University Development Project to improve the level of English language teaching with the participation of 16 universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Public Affairs Section, US Embassy in Kazakhstan, Astana, initiated and sponsor the project.

EL Teacher with over 30 years of teaching experience at language schools, lecturing at universities in Almaty, teacher development trainer, material and curriculum developer.
Paul Woodfall – Oxford University Press’ Regional Training Coordinator for the Gulf, Yemen, Lebanon and Kazakhstan. He has given training workshops from K1 -12 and trained university teachers in Spain, UAE, KSA, Iran, Turkey, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen and the Sultanate of Oman.
Professor Russell McMahon has been teaching Information Technology (IT) related subject matter since 1980 and has been a faculty member in the School of Information Technology
On April 2, 2022 the Orda school hosted a seminar of the Regional Association of Teachers of English on the topic "Effective teaching methods are the keys to success".
Silvana Dushku is a Senior Language Education Strategist. She worked as Director of the Community Language Program, TESOL Certificate Program, and Language Program Management Certificate Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. She has taught EFL/ESL for over 35 years, and has been involved in language program development, curriculum and materials design, and teacher training in Europe and the USA. Her interests include teaching and researching vocabulary and spoken English, and applications of corpus linguistics and technology in ELT."
