Jode Brexa - Virtual KazTEA 2024 Key-Note Speaker

Jode Brexa, Educational Specialist is an award-winning educator with more than forty years designing curriculum and supporting teacher training in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, India, South Africa and the United States.  Over the past ten years, Jode has implemented grant-based projects using Digital Storytelling to support women and youth in discovering their authentic voices to author and affirm their identity.  She has published on Digital Storytelling in Education, Emerging Technologies, and Community Partnerships: Concepts, Models and Practices (IGI Global, 2011l) and her Fulbright Project at the University of Free State in South Africa was showcased in her co-authored article “Challenging the narrative of gender socialisation: Digital storytelling as an engaged methodology for the empowerment of girls and young womenpublished in Agenda, a leading South African feminist journal.  In 2020, she published a chapter in Teachers Teaching Nonviloence (DIO Press) on Digital Stories as testaments to self-transformation.  In 2024, she launched STORYCORD to facilitate Digital Storytelling workshops for English Access Microscholarship Program teachers and students in Kazakhstan.  She lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
