The organization background, the year of establishment: “UTA” was founded in September 2006 to identify the needs of teachers from a wide range of educational contexts.

The mission of the organization
The mission of our organization is to guarantee high standards of English throughout the West Kazakhstan Oblast by providing students with support and guidance in academic skills, so as to insure that their work within and beyond the institution meets the expectations of the international community. In this way UTA seeks to raise standards and awareness of academic English in the West Kazakhstan Oblast.
To provide a comprehensive overview of the field of second and foreign language teaching, with a particular focus on issues related to the teaching of English.

Our aims

  • To offer opportunities for communicating and networking among UTA members.
  • To provide opportunities for teachers to share and advantage from each other’s practical experiences.
  • To improve the professional development of UTA members.
  • To provide a forum for debating issues of importance to the profession.
  • UTA is becoming the educational, organizational center for a dynamic network of West Kazakhstan ELT NGO. Working within country educational contexts, UTA connects with local organizations, aiming for an integration of local expertise with international experience to achieve appropriate strategies for education development.
  • To provide a source of teaching principles and classroom activities which teachers can refer to in their work.
  • We are promoting the interest of the teachers in our organization and our activities encouraging them to be the members of UTA and participants of the activities.

The activities of the organization are:

  • Conducting seminars and courses on methodologies of teaching English with help of invited instructors, local teachers and native speakers who teach in the region.
  • Acquiring new books and equipment for the UTA Resource Center.
  • Partnering with the city and oblast educational department, oblast institute of continuing education, department of information.
  • Organizing English clubs for teachers and students.
  • Maintaining relationships with the teachers’ associations in other regions and NATEK.
  • Maintaining relationships with foreign organizations
  • Participation in the NATEK conferences.
  • Developing materials
